Condition reporting, Packing, and shipping
This 17th-century tapestry is being prepared for shipment overseas. We created a detailed condition report, sewed together muslin to fit the tapestry, and rolled it on an archival tube.
preventative conservation and rehousing
This watercolor on paper was removed from its old, separating frame and acidic backing board, lightly dry-cleaned, and rehoused in a polyester L-sleeve for storage.
Collection Mangement
Management of this private medieval collection included building a custom database, recording provenance, creating unique numbers for the artifacts, cleaning, condition reporting, and photography. It also required dismantling this suit of armor for documentation and reassembling it.
Cleaning and Consolidation
We started with a gently cleaning of these worn leather WWII-era women's boots, followed by consolidation of the leather to prevent further cracking and loss.
Mounting and exhibition
The staff of TRC has mounted thousands of artifacts for display and exhibition. Above, Elena mounts a leather flight jacket for museum exhibition. Below, Kate custom frames 1960s posters for an exhibit at a Chicago institution.
custom housing
We provide custom, archival housing for all materials and purposes. Whether you're storing rare books and papers or shipping works of art, TRC can create the proper support and micro-environment to ensure the preservation any materials.
